Resolution to Include Citizenship on United States Census
WHEREAS, the information collected by the United States Census Bureau is critical to the decision making of government;
WHEREAS, the allocation of funds and services provided by government are based on population calculated using the data collected by the United States Census Bureau;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of [state], the Governor concurring therein, call upon Congress to require any questionnaire used in the decennial census include a checkbox or other similar option for respondents to indicate whether the respondent and each household member is a U.S. citizen.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Department of Commerce must make public the number of citizens and noncitizens in each state.
