Why is ALEC so fond of DeGroot? Because he has cheerfully championed ALEC legislation to restrict the right of terminally ill, asbestos victims to sue over mesothelioma. In doing so, DeGroot is helping the many U.S. companies that have asbestos-related liability.

The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) has joined a coalition of 78 government reform, civil rights, labor, environmental, and advocacy organizations urging 20 of the largest corporate funders of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) to cut ties with the corporate bill mill.
 
The vote sets up a major test case for President Trump's claims that savings from the massive corporate tax cut pushed through by Republicans in Congress last fall will result in higher wages for American workers.
 
UPS is a member of the American Exchange Legislative Council. ALEC strongly supported the Republican tax cuts.

Trump's recent massive corporate tax cuts were sold as a job creation mechanism, but rather than creating jobs, all nine companies reported layoffs that have recently taken place or are planned for 2018.
